Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 22 September 2026

This is a general summary of the terms we hire on. It doesn’t cover every situation, and we’ll always talk through the specifics of your job before you book. If anything here is unclear, contact us before booking.

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to every booking for operated cherry picker hire, roof cleaning or gutter cleaning made with Manchester & Cheshire Cherry Pickers (“we”, “us”, “our”), whether made by phone, email or through this website. By booking with us, you (“the customer”) agree to these terms.

2. Operated hire only

We provide operated hire only — our cherry picker is never supplied for self-drive or unsupervised use. Every job is carried out by one of our own IPAF-trained operators, who remains in control of the machine and the work being undertaken at all times. Our operator has final authority to pause, reschedule or refuse to carry out any part of a job they consider unsafe, and this decision is not subject to dispute on site.

3. Quotes, bookings and payment

Quotes are given in good faith based on the information you provide about the job, access, and location, and may be revised if the actual site conditions differ once our operator arrives (for example, restricted access, ground conditions, or a larger scope of work than described).

A booking is not confirmed, and a date or time slot is not held, until we have received full payment in cleared funds. A provisional date discussed by phone or email, or an enquiry submitted through this website, is not a confirmed booking. We reserve the right to release a provisionally held slot to another customer if payment has not been received in time to secure it.

Our advertised rates include up to 10 miles of travel from our Daresbury, WA4 base. Jobs requiring further travel will be quoted separately before booking.

4. Site access and delays

You’re responsible for making sure our operator has safe, clear and immediate access to the work area at the agreed arrival time, including any permits, permissions or neighbour/landlord consent needed to position the vehicle (for example, on a road, driveway, pavement or third-party land).

If safe access to the site is not made available immediately when our operator arrives, the time spent waiting will be deducted from your paid hire time on site. Your hire period runs from the agreed start time regardless of any access delay caused on the customer’s side, and waiting time is not added back on or refunded. If access cannot reasonably be arranged, we reserve the right to treat the booking as a late cancellation under clause 5.

Please also tell us in advance about anything that could affect safe positioning or working at height — overhead cables or wires, low branches, soft or sloped ground, nearby structures, or restricted overhead space — so our operator can plan for it before arrival.

5. Cancellations and rescheduling

We understand plans change. If you need to cancel or move a booking, please give us as much notice as possible so we can try to reallocate the slot. Cancellations or reschedules made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or a job we cannot carry out on the day due to a site issue that should have been flagged in advance (see clause 4), may not be eligible for a full refund, since the slot will usually have been held exclusively for you.

6. Weather and conditions beyond our control

Working at height depends on safe weather and ground conditions. If high winds, storms, ice, lightning or other unsafe conditions mean the job cannot be carried out safely, our operator may postpone or stop work — this decision is made for safety reasons and is final. Where we postpone a job for this reason, we’ll work with you to rearrange at the earliest suitable date and this will not be treated as a customer cancellation.

7. Insurance, liability and damage

We carry public liability insurance for our operations. We take reasonable care to protect your property, but ask that you point out anything fragile, precious or easily damaged in or near the work area before we start. We’re not responsible for pre-existing damage, wear and tear, or damage to underground services, drains or cabling that wasn’t disclosed to us in advance.

Where roof or gutter cleaning is carried out, we take care to work within the manufacturer’s and industry guidance for the materials involved, but cannot be held responsible for the condition of roofing, guttering, render or paintwork that was already damaged, deteriorated or poorly fitted before we started.

8. Your responsibilities on the day

Please make sure the work area is reasonably clear of vehicles, obstructions and people not involved in the job, and that pets and children are kept away from the work area and the vehicle at all times while we’re on site, for everyone’s safety.

9. Complaints

If you’re unhappy with any part of the work we’ve carried out, please contact us as soon as possible so we can look into it and put things right. Get in touch using the details below.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date, and the terms in place at the time you book will apply to that booking.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
